2005 hawk hill Pinot Noir
The grapes for this wine were grown on Hawk Hill the name given to the extensive north facing hills at Auntsfield where year round the Kahu, majestic birds of prey, fly the thermal air-currents.
A deep ruby/crimson in colour, this concentrated Pinot Noir has intense aromas of dark cherries and subtle smoky oak, rich berry fruit and spice on the palate and ripe tannin structure with excellent length.
Colour:
Deep ruby/crimson, very intense.
Aroma:
Black cherry, hints of lifted red cherry and raspberry, blackcurrant, coffee beans, Black Doris plums, cigar box, chocolate, tarry, hints of liquorice, dried spice.
Palate:
Rich fruit dominated by dark berry fruit and cherry. A full rich palate with interwoven spices and fruit.
The structure tight enough to show the wines ability to age yet still rich and generous.
A long rich finish with silky, ripe tannins and unbelievable length.

Alc 14.5% pH 3.63 TA 6.4
